Nearly 10 Toddlers Die of Starvation in Central Region

Galka’yo — At least 8 children reportedly died of hunger and thrist in Mudug region in central Somalia.

Residents said that what made the situation so worse is that the region of Mudug is experiencing acute shortages of water.

Mahad Abid Mohamed confirmed Shabelle the death of the kids for sake of drought that hit many parts of the country.

Central Somalia has been most affected by the drought. People there are bracing for good rainfalls to start in the Hiran, Galgudud and Mudug regions.

At least 30 people, many of them children and elderly, are reported to have died from famine-like conditions in central and southern Somalia only last month.

Much of the country has endured a severe lack of seasonal rainfall for the past three years.
