CHEPYUK location in Mt. Elgon won the Kopsiro Peace Cup yesterday after beating Emia 4-1 in the final at Cheptoror Primary School grounds to join Chesikaki who lifted the Cheptais Cup.
Chepyuk led 4-1 at halftime in the match that was witnessed by Kopsiro DO, Timothy Tirop, Teso Peace group Executive secretary, Cleophas Okisai and area peace chairman Richard Sangula.
The DO said it was shocking that Cheptais and Kopsiro divisions that make up Cheptais district had only two male referees in Patrick Chesebe and Manasseh Olekete with no female referee and challenged the youth to join the field.
In the women’s category Chepyuk lifted the crown after beating Chongeywo 3-1 in the match officiated by FIFA woman referee from Teso, Agneta Itubo. The peace tournament was organised by Teso Peace and Human Rights Development Initiative and financed by the Finland Embassy in Nairobi.
