The government has spurned suggestions that the 2nd Ghana Policy Fair scheduled to run from April 26 to 30 is but only a clever propaganda gimmick, insisting the project will propel the country’s development in tremendous ways. Speaking to journalists at the Ghana International Conference Centre where preparations are at their zenith for the 2nd Ghana Policy Fair, a Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the fair was designed to give Ghanaians a rare access to information that will help them plan and contribute to the attainment of a better Ghana.

Rutsiro — Two women in Rutsiro District have been arrested for allegedly carrying out an abortion.

The duo is identified as Clemence Yezakuzwe, 25, and 21-year old Chantal Nyirandengayobagira. Yezakuzwe is in Police custody, while Nyirandengayobagira is in hospital after developing complications as a result of the abortion.

According to witnesses, Nyirandengayobagira said she wanted to carry out an abortion because her husband had abandoned her. “She is currently in hospital because she almost bled to death, but after recovery, she will be charged,” Police in Rutisro District said yesterday.

While in custody, Yezakuzwe also confessed to committing the crime as she did not feel ready to have children. “I accidentally got pregnant and was not ready to give birth; so that is why I carried out the abortion,” Yezakuzwe said.
