A Somali national alleged to have obtained Sh4 million from a businessman after lying to him that he had land to sell him in Mogadishu was yesterday charged at a Nairobi court. Abdi Hosh Ashkir appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Gilbert Mutembei.
He denied the charges and was remanded after the prosecution objected to his release saying he was charged in another court and absconded when allowed bail. Mutembei remanded the suspect in custody until Tuesday when he will decide whether to release him on bail.
Ashkir is accused of obtaining the money from Bashir Shariff after assuring him that he was in a position to sell him land in Mogadishu, Somalia. The offence was allegedly committed on February 18, 1997 at Prudential Building Nairobi.
