NAIROBI romped to the semi finals with a 81-56 win over reigning champions Mombasa in the Sprite/Smart TV East and Central Africa Inter Cities championships tie at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.
Even with a late game against Juba on the cards, the unbeaten hosts top pool “A” with six points from three wins and are favoured to finish tops with a win. A loss will put them in second place.
Kenya University (Kusa) men’s side topped pool “B” where Dar es salaam and Bentiu from Southern Sudan were also battling to make it after late matches.
Yesterday, Kusa ladies beat winless Mogadishu 64-20 and will finish third. A crucial late game between two Nairobi teams, Select and Combined was to determine the group leaders.
Mombasa beat Mwanza 78-65 while Nairobi Combined women whipped Mogadishu 75-12. In another game, Juba beat Mwanza 57-42 with Dar es Salaam rocking Mogadishu 106-39.
