Our reporter gathered from transport union officials that a trip from Abuja to Onitsha which usually cost N2,000, increased to N4,500, while from Abuja to Enugu went up from N1,500 to N3,000.
The fare from Abuja to Makurdi which previously cost N1,000 increased to N2,000.
A commuter travelling to Onistha, Mrs. Blessing Idimirrili, described the increment as outrageous.
Another commuter, Goddy Michael, said he would have discontinued the journey if not for its importance.
Reacting, a driver with Royal Mass Transit Company, said the increment were done to make them break even, adding that they usually come back from trips without passengers.
