Right here we go. The players have taken to the pitch. Not long now.
Fighting talk there. All eyes will be on Ian Harte tonight. A Leeds legend returns to Elland Road. If he scores tonight he maintains he won’t celebrate.
Royals fan Simon says: “This is really our last ‘challenging’ game in our supposedly easy run-in. The Norwich game yesterday didn’t go our way, neither did this afternoon’s Forest-Leicester game so it’s all down to the Royals tonight. But looking at recent form, a win against a team lower in the table than them shouldn’t be too much of a struggle (no offence Leeds fans)! COME ON URZZZ!”
What do Reading fans think about the game tonight? Just one win in their last six for Leeds. Do you fancy your chances?
Shane Long will certainly take some stopping. Not the kind of guy you want to face if you are Naylor on your first start in six months.
Another Leeds fan Mark in Malta says: “I’ve got to say I’m really surprised at the inclusion of Richard Naylor in the starting line-up. He just hasn’t been the same this season and I can’t see how he’s going to control a player like Shane Long. Hopefully he can prove me wrong. As always MOT!”
Brendan says: “I feel it is a must win game for Leeds today especially after Forest won earlier. Leeds need to stop the rot and no better way than to beat one of your rivals. Leeds 2-1 I hope!”
Reading: McCarthy, Griffin, Khizanishvili, Mills, Harte, McAnuff, Karacan, Leigertwood, Robson-Kanu, Long, Hunt.
Subs: Federici, Tabb, Antonio, Church, Howard, Pearce, Manset.
Leeds: Schmeichel, Connolly, Naylor, O’Brien, Lichaj, Livermore, Howson, Johnson, Snodgrass, Paynter, Gradel.
Subs: Higgs, Kilkenny, Watt, Bannan, Bromby, Somma, McCormack.
Team news is in here we go…
Fans of either side will need no reminding what a massive game this is. The Leeds players will step out this evening knowing that a late winner from Nottingham Forest has just bumped them out of the play-off places. Reading will look to continue their impressive eight-match win streak. It’s all to play for!
Good evening and welcome to the live minute-by-minute text commentary from Elland Road as Leeds United take on Reading. Team news should arrive shortly, but while we wait for kick-off, why not let me know your thoughts at richard.simpson@bskyb.com
