Luanda — The Angolan National Society of Fuels (Sonangol) has made all arrangements required to start operating in São Tomé and Príncipe, as from May this year, Angop learned Thursday in Luanda.

The information was released by the visiting prime minister of São Tome and Principle, Patrice Emery Trovoada.

Patrice Trovoada was speaking to the press at “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, before leaving back to his country, after a 24-hour visit to Angola.

He said that “we think that the partnership and the new juridical structures that involve Sonangol will be operational early next month.”

According to the premier, the economic participation of Sonangol in his country will cover the management of port and airport infrastructures, including the air sector.

Patrice Emery Trovoada added that despite being small, the São Tome’s market offers various competitive opportunities to Angolan investors.

“The domestic market of São Tome and Principe is a small market, but the positioning of our islands offers opportunities to investors and we think that the economic evolution of Angola today and in future, enables Angolan investors to migrate into São Tomé,” he stated.

To the prime minister, besides the business environment in his country being positive, the political relations are good and so conditions are in place for the Angolan private sector to prosper in São Tomé.

Patrice Trovoada left Luanda on Thursday evening back to his country at the head of a delegation that included his Foreign minister, Manuel Salvador dos Ramos, and the secretary general of the Government of São Tomé, António da Graça.
