THE Sports Council of Zambia (SCZ) has said national associations that will not pay their affiliation fees by April 30 risk losing out on benefiting from the 50 per cent off air fares being offered by Zambezi Airlines to all sports disciplines.

SCZ general secretary Rodgers Chipili urged all affiliates to speed up payment of their subscriptions and start enjoying the benefits on offer such as grants.

Chipili said associations that would fail to renew their affiliation would not be allowed to host or travel outside the country for any international competitions.

He said in an interview in Lusaka at the weekend that the sports associations would also lose out on tax rebates when clearing their equipment and the 50 per cent fares slash from Zambezi Airlines.

Chipili said only 22 of the 40 affiliated members had renewed their subscriptions for this year’s sporting calendar despite the extension of the deadline from March 31 to April 30.

He said the council decided to push forward the renewal exercise to this monthend after realising the financial challenges most sports associations were facing that had forced the council to extend the payment exercise.

Chipili said most associations had been making part payments and encouraged them to beat the April 30 deadline or risk losing out on some benefits that its members were entailed to.
