Actor David Tennant has revealed how Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp helped him prepare for his role as Manchester United coach Jimmy Murphy in the new BBC drama ‘United‘.
The drama, which airs on Sunday night at 9pm, is based on the true story of United’s legendary ‘Busby Babes’ – the youngest side ever to win a league championship – and the night where eight of the team were tragically killed in an air crash in 1958.
After spending time with Tottenham to prepare for the role, Tennant revealed how Redknapp, who watched the game from the stands, told him about the last game the Busby Babes played on English soil.
“Harry Redknapp saw the final game that the Busby Babes played in the UK,” the former ‘Doctor Who’ star said.
“It was their penultimate game ever, which was against Arsenal. It was interesting to talk to him and feel that link through history.”
