Mogadishu — Precarious calm is reported on Friday morning to have returned to Mogadishu after one day of deadly fighting between Somali government forces backed by African Union peacekeepers and Al shabaab fighters.
Local residents said that guns have fallen silent as military movements reported from war zones in the capital of weary torn Somalia.
Most of Thursday’s battles rocked were the neighborhoods of Mogadishu’s Bondhere district where heavy gun fire and artillery barrages could be heard in many parts of Benadir region.
At least 5 people were killed and scores more wounded in yesterday’s Mogadishu fighting.
