Deputy Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council Musa Ali Gwoza has commended minister of the FCT Senator Bala Mohammed for boosting the standing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the federal territory.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the deputy chairman attributed the overwhelming success of the PDP in the last two elections to the political sagacity of the minister. He said there is a marked difference between Senator Mohammed’s political disposition and that of his predecessors during whose tenure the PDP suffered defeat in the territory.

According to Gwoza, “In the 2007 elections, we lost the senate and the two federal constituencies to the ANPP. We also lost seven councillorship seats in AMAC out of twelve. All these happened because the minister was not a politician, otherwise how could he be campaigning and demolishing people’s houses at the same time?” Gwoza said he was a victim of the poor outing in 2007 because he lost the councillorship seat to the ANPP.

The deputy chairman said Senator’s Mohammed’s ability to coordinate and take care of the interest of all stakeholders was responsible for the success of the party in all elections that took place since he assumed office, and particularly the ongoing polls.

“Senator Mohammed came just a week before council elections and he ensured that we won the chairmanship and all twelve councillorship position in AMAC. Now we have won the senate and the two House of Representatives seats,” he acknowledged, stressing that the minister’s interaction with politicians and other stakeholders is wonderful.

Gwoza also hailed the efforts of his boss, the AMAC chairman, Mr. Micah Jiba, whom he said has been up and doing in the current political process to ensure a resounding success.
