LAGOS – The Court of Appeal, Lagos, has reserved judgment on the appeals by convicted former Chairman of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Alhaji Bello Lafiaji and his ex-Special Assistant, Usman Amali.

A Lagos High Court had sentenced Lafiaji, to 16 years imprisonment for abuse of office and conspiracy, while his aide, Usman Amali, bagged seven-year jail term.

The appellants counsel had at the resumed hearing in the case, urged the court to allow the appeal and set aside the judgment of the lower court on the ground that the said judgment was read straight from laptop and was thereafter downloaded and signed by the judge.

According to the appellants, such a procedure did not comply with Section 279 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos state, 2008.
