Susan Boyle came face-to-face with her wax likeness yesterday at Madame Tussaud’s yesterday – and her fans may have had a spot of bother telling which was which.

The new Blackpool branch of the tourist attraction spent £150,000 on the model of the former Britain’s Got Talent star to get every detail right.

The 50-year-old star suitably impressed too, saying: ‘What can you say? They have done a very good job. It feels fantastic.

‘It was such a great process to be involved in and it looks very realistic.’

The model is on display at the new Madame Tussauds attraction, which opens to the public on Thursday in the Lancashire resort.

Boyle, 50, gingerly eyed her wax look-alike as it was unveiled today before posing alongside the model for photographers, joking: ‘She’s doing a better job than me!’

The 2009 Britain’s Got Talent runner-up from West Lothian, Scotland, giggled that there was only one person who she would like her waxwork stand alongside today, she giggled there was only one person she would choose.

She smiled: ‘Simon Cowell of course, no doubt about that.’

The wax model wore an elegant black outfit donated by the singer, which she wore in the video for her cover of The Rolling Stones’ Wild Horses.

Her model will stand in the Big Night In area of the attraction, alongside the likes of Bruce Forsyth, Gok Wan and Alan Carr.

Work on the Madame Tussauds attraction, which will have 72 wax figures in a series of interactive displays, began last November and is part of a £10 million regeneration effort for the Blackpool Tower and Promenade.

Matthew Titherington, general manager of the waxworks attraction, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Susan at Madam Tussauds Blackpool today as we put finishing touches to our exciting new attraction.’
