‘My focus is to save West Brom’ – Peter Odemwingie not interested in transfer talk

West Bromwich Albion’s Peter Odemwingie has reiterated his commitment to the club and insisted the players are all fully focused on maintaining their Premier League status.

The Nigerian striker, who signed for the Baggies from Lokomotiv Moscow in August, has scored 12 goals so far this season and that return has caught the eye of many teams across Europe.

However, Odemwingie reassured Baggies fans that he was only thinking about keeping the club in the Premier League.

“My focus is to save West Brom,” he told Sky Sports.

“I scored at the weekend but we lost – that is not good. The most important thing is to beat relegation and nothing else.”

After defeat against Chelsea the Baggies are six points clear of the relegation zone in 11th position but defender Jonas Olsson agreed with his team-mate that the club weren’t safe just yet.

“No way is it job done,” he told the club’s official website.

“Everyone in this country who follows football knows that 39 points might not be enough this year.

“So we will try to kick on until we’re hopefully on safe ground.

“Whether that’s 40 or 45 points, or whatever, I don’t really care.

“We just need to make sure we keep the distance to the relegation places, which is six points now.

“We don’t want to go into the last few games with the knife on our throats, so we will definitely keep being humble enough to make sure we get some more points.”
