A cross section of voters interviewed by Daily Trust said though they were disappointed, nothing was done to diminish their enthusiasm to participate in the election.
A voter, Sani Tela of Kagarawal area of Gombe metropolis, who said he went to his polling unit as early as 7.00am on Saturday, told our reporter that though he was disappointed by the suspension of the election that day, he was not discouraged from participating in the re-scheduled election.
“In fact I feel more determined to participate in the elections as from this Saturday. I have vowed to myself that I will participate and that is what I will do”, said determined Sani.
On his own part, Muhammed Kwairaga Adamu, a resident of Dawaki quarters of Gombe metropolis, said he was not discouraged by the postponement and was looking forward to next Saturday.
“As far as I am concerned the announcement of the suspension of the elections, though painful, is not in any way discouraging, therefore I will be going to the polls on Saturday. In fact it has strengthened my determination to exercise my civic responsibility”, said Kwairaga.
Hauwa’u Abubakar, a housewife and another resident of Dawaki area of the state capital, said the postponement did nothing to shake her belief in the ability of the independent national electoral commission (INEC) to conduct credible polls.
“I have confidence in INEC under Jega to conduct credible elections and make my vote count. For this reason, I am ready to stand any disappointment because no good thing comes easy in life”, the mother of four said.
