The District Chief Executive for Assin South in the Central Region has announced her resignation, following constant disagreements between her and NDC party executives in the district.

Mrs. Sabina Appiah Kubi made the announcement at a meeting on Wednesday March 30, expressing her frustration at the deteriorating relationship between party executives and herself.

Citi News understands that some executives of the party in the Central Region visited the district in an attempt to resolve the impasse when she made the announcement in tears.

The DCE refused to comment on the issue when Citi News contacted her. But one of the NDC executives in the Assin South District, Paul Agyekum, has described the development as unfortunate.

“She was even weeping and it was very terrible. She said she will not do the work again and that was it. We felt that it was rather unfortunate because as a Leader, assuming we should take you to Parliament to represent the people and something little happens and because of that you decide to resign as an MP then you have failed the people.

“We believe that if there is any problem, it should be solved between party executives and the DCE. But for you to come out and say you have resigned your position without an official letter but with just an announcement is rather unfortunate. If you can resign over a small issue then it means that she is not all that brave to do the job” Mr. Agyekum implied.

It is not clear whether the aggrieved DCE has officially informed the President of her resignation.

President Mills has in the last one year dismissed a number of MMDCEs. Although reasons were not assigned for virtually all the dismissals, they often came after protests against such appointees by either NDC party foot soldiers or executives.
