THE CHAIRMAN of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ahanta West constituency of the Western Region, Paul Gyimah, did the unthinkable yesterday when he blatantly invoked the dreaded gods and river goddess in the Ahantaland and cursed party member who accused him of being responsible for the party’s abysmal performance during general elections in the constituency.

“NDC members in the constituency who have hatched diabolical plans to give me a bad name or disgrace me in public by accusing me of being the cause of the party’s woes in the constituency or not supporting the party financially will die when eating, drinking or crossing a river,” Mr. Gyimah said.

Information reaching DAILY GUIDE indicates that internal wrangling in the Ahanta West NDC after the dismissal of their District Chief Executive (DCE), Jones Amoah, is getting worse as some foot-soldiers of the party in the area continue to accuse Mr. Gyimah of being responsible for the party’s political hibernation for a long time.

The NDC foot-soldiers have also attributed the party’s poor performance in general elections in the area to the alleged unwillingness of the party’s constituency chairman to release the party’s funds for the financing of activities of the party.

The Ahanta West NDC foot-soldiers have also accused the chairman of allegedly being the brain behind their DCE’s dismissal.

In reaction to the various allegations levelled against him, in an interview with Goodnews FM in Takoradi, Mr. Gyimah blatantly rained curses on the party’s foot-soldiers and called on the gods of Ahantaland to kill any party member who falsely accused him of not supporting the party financially.

He continued, “Whoever wants to disgrace me will die when the person breaths air into the nostril, but if it is true that I’m not helping the party as has been alleged, I say that I should also die when eating, drinking or crossing any river.”

He told listeners that he would not be worried if President Mills got wind of the fact that he had cursed the party members since that was the only way the truth or otherwise of the allegations would be known.

Mr. Gyimah cited an instance where some party activists in Kumasi had to call on the dreaded Antoa Nyamaa to deal with people who attempted to disgrace them.

He strongly denied the assertion that he was the one who masterminded the dismissal of Amoah as the DCE of the area, stressing that in Ghana, everyone knew that it was the king makers who had the sole prerogative to destool a king.

He noted that he had no problem with the ex-DCE and that he was even the one who single-handedly financed all the activities, including the printing of T-shirts for Amoah when he contested the constituency seat on the ticket of the NDC in the 2008 parliamentary elections.

Mr. Gyimah further alleged that if he had not supported the party financially when it was in opposition, the NDC in the constituency would have collapsed.
