According to some police officers who hinted The Moment newspaper of the challenge their wards are facing in some JHS and SHS publics schools, the teachers are using the discrimination tactics punish to their wards because they (teachers) are facing challenges in their salary computation.
The police officers revealed that since they started benefiting from the Single Spine Salary Structure, their wards when identified in schools face severe punishment without any justification.
According to them, their wards have been ‘labeled’ teachers and students whose parents are not within the bracket of the SSSS, adding that they are even prohibited to be seen in the staff common rooms.
“Should it be that our children are carrying the cross of the sinner?” a police parent asked. One police officer complained bitterly on the discrimination going on in some public schools as the teachers involved in these acts aim at humiliating students (wards of police officers) despite government’s preparedness to expedite actions to settle the issues of the teacher’s SSSS.
“Because we get a higher pay, our children do not get the enabling students participation in the schools, thus the ‘do me I do you tactics adopted by the teachers’. A police officer said.
He appealed to the government to device ways of resolving the differences between the security personnel and the teachers before they turn deaf ears to any teacher who reports his case to the police.
