After serving a six-month suspension for violating team rules, Juarez was called up to Mexico for their friendly matches against Paraguay and Venezuela on Saturday and Tuesday, respectively.
Juarez was unable to participate in El Tri’s match earlier this year and there were no assurances he would be brought back into the mix once his suspension was lifted.
“I’m thankful to coaching staff because they have faith in me,” Juarez told Mexican daily Record. “I want to do things right and fight for a spot and obviously think about the future.”
Jaurez and Carlos Vela were slapped with six-month bans while about a dozen others were fined but not suspended, all the fallout of post-game activities after a match in Monterrey in September.
“It’s something I don’t want to repeat,” Juarez said. “It’s something that left a stain, both on the FMF and the players and we cannot repeat that.”
Juarez said he did not sulk about his suspension but also said what matters more is what goes on this spring, summer and beyond.
“We understood the decision but we have to turn the page,” he said. “We can’t always think about the past. What’s important is the present and future. We’re working hard on that so everything turns out well.”
