Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany believes that a showdown with Tottenham at the end of the season to decide a Champions League spot will not be an issue.

The two sides have yet to meet at Eastlands this season as their league fixture had to be rearranged due to City’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester United.

Harry Redknapp’s side won last season’s encounter 1-0 with striker Peter Crouch claiming the only goal of the game, sealing Champions League football for Tottenham.

And the two sides look as though they will be battling it out again this campaign, but Belgian centre-back Kompany is unfazed about the prospect of another showdown for a place in the top four.

“We will see what happens, we hope that we can make a difference before then, and if it has to go to that game again then we will be happy to play it,” Kompany told Manchester City’s official website.

“We are ready for big days – Spurs, United, everything that comes after this.

“We are more solid as a team and I don’t think that we will be fazed by the importance of the game. We will keep playing our game and get our goals, but defensively we are solid. There are no surprises for us there.

“We can win every game. If we win every game, then we will be there.”

The Belgian international also insisted there is more to come from Edin Dzeko, who is yet to score in the Premier League since his big-money move from German club Wolfsburg.

Kompany added: “He works hard for us. It is the hardest moment of the season to come into the team and have an impact.

“Edin has already been brilliant for us in certain games and that is a positive thing for me as I know that next season we will get the best out of him.”
