Mogadishu — Fighting and heavy artillery shelling between Somali government forces backed by African Union peacekeepers and Al Shabaab fighters on early Tuesday morning erupted in many parts of the capital city of Mogadishu.

Most of the battle rocked neighborhoods in Hodan, Howlwadag and Bondhere where crackling of machine gunfire and the sounds shoulder launched missiles could be heard throughout Benedir region.

Reports and sources confirmed Shabelle that some of the artillery barrages had landed very far away from the battles zones and people said that this may increase the deaths and injuries in civilians’ queues.
