Sepp Blatter has revealed that his fourth term as Fifa president would be his last if he is re-elected.

The 75-year-old is facing a challenge from Asian confederation chief Mohamed Bin Hammam and is not certain to win.

Blatter has caused conflicted opinions over his handling of allegations of corruption in the World Cup voting system, and his reluctance to consider goal-line technology.

Bin Hammam is therefore rivalling Blatter, but the latter has also confirmed that, even if he wins, he will definitely stand down in 2015.

Blatter said: “You know very well that I am a candidate for the next four years as Fifa president but these will be the last four years for which I stand as a candidate.

    Future

“Together we have the task of bringing together the adventure we have started. We want to ensure a better future for our youth.”

Bin Hammam was once one of the most loyal supporters of Blatter, who has been Fifa president for 13 years.

But the 61-year-old Qatari recently admitted that they have fallen out over Fifa issues in the later years of Blatter’s reign, although he insisted they are not enemies.

“I see him as a friend,” he said. “I wish that although I am presenting my candidacy he doesn’t consider me as his enemy.

“In the last two or three years there has been a lot of confrontation between him and me, but in the right place which is in the executive committee, but that is for the better administration of football, it doesn’t mean we hate each other.”
