Sulley Muntari has been ruled out of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations clash with Congo on Sunday by Sunderland coach Steve Bruce because of injury.
The claim by the boss of the English side means the midfielder will not be available for the friendly clash against England two days later.
The Sunderland midfielder limped off with a calf injury after just 19 minutes of Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat by Liverpool in the Premier League.
“I can’t see Muntari joining up with Ghana,” said Sunderland coach Steve Bruce after the match.
Despite being ruled out of the two matches by the coach of his English side, Muntari says he is awaiting scan results to determine the extent of injury.
The Black Stars face England 48 hours after their Group I tie in Brazzaville.
The news is a headache for Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic.
