Striker Njogu Demba had been impressive since he moved to the Magpies but has yet to find the back of the net , and came very close to getting his first goal for his new club but however ended up missing what could have got them a stalemate results against Rochdale.

The Gambian striker wasted a simple chance to score his first goal for the club in the first half at Spotland, before defender Craig Dawson scored the winner for Dale less than a minute into the second-half.

The lone goal proved decisive enough as Njogu’s Notts County sits at seventeen position leaving assistant coach Rae frustrated with the Gambian signing wastwefulness.

Notts County picked up only a single win since Demba joined from Danish club OB and is yet to get his first club goal as the County struggles for a steady winning form.

“It’s very frustrating after producing such a good performance at Sheffield Wednesday,” he said.

“It was a tale of chances. Demba missed an absolute sitter. We couldn’t believe it. He had an open goal to aim for but did not capitalise on the chance. Those kind of moments define games.

“They took their chance. We highlighted their strengths before the game and it is obviously from set-plays, but unfortunately we could not stop them scoring from a corner and it ultimately cost us” he added. We gave the players a team talk, telling them to up their game and we got done within 30 seconds of the restart. They need to be out there ready to go.”

Demba had an effort cleared off the line as Notts strived for an equaliser but Rae added: “It’s fair to say we never played well. We found it difficult to get the ball down and play because of the bumpy surface”

Rae insists the Magpies have to quickly pick themselves up for a crucial game against Bristol Rovers at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
