Congo captain Christopher Samba scored against Richard Kingson in the English top flight this weekend to gain the psychological advantage ahead of next Sunday’s 2012 Nations Cup qualifier in Brazzaville.

Kingson’s Blackpool took a 2-0 lead but allowed Samba’s Blackburn to fight back to earn a 2-2 draw at Ewood Park on Saturday.

The visitors were in total control at half-time after captain Charlie Adam, back from a two-game ban, had netted a contentious 25th-minute penalty and curled in a sublime free-kick four minutes later.

But Christopher Samba pulled a goal back for Blackburn four minutes into the second half and their incessant pressure finally paid off when Richard Kingson failed to get hands to a free-kick from opposite number Paul Robinson and Hoilett headed in on the 93rd.

Kingson will be in the post for Ghana against Samba’s Congo on Sunday in a crucial Group I game.
