Akuffo-Addo is derailing his own campaign-Twum Boafo

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Board (GFZB), Mr. Kwadwo Twum Boafo, strongly believes, the presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo is indeed a ‘confused’ individual who wants to be president just for the sake of being called ‘Mr. President’.

His diagnosis of Nana Addo being in a confused state is premised on the NPP flagbearer’s recent talk of a 10-year development plan which can turn around the fortunes of the country economically.

To him, Nana Addo is derailing his presidential campaign per his comments.

The NPP Flagbearer, after a workshop with party researchers, told the media it was possible to transform Ghana in 10 years, but the country must first wipe out the colonial ‘Guggisberg economy’ in which raw materials are gleefully exported out of the country for peanuts and adopt a more refined and perhaps a “Nana-Addo economy” of adding value to our products.

He posited that Ghana can be the pride of Africa within 10 years with “Dedication, Discipline and Determination” citing the experience and successes of the BRIC nations- Brazil, Russia, India and China as examples.

But contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s political analysis programme, ‘Alhaji and Alhaji’, Mr. Twum Boafo said: “I sincerely believe that the flagbearer of the NPP is a little confused because I don’t know where he gets his information from…Since Nana Addo became the flagbearer of the NPP, he has put up various statements that are threatening his campaign. If it is not ‘all-die-be-die’, ‘it is y3n Akanfuor’, or ‘(late) Theresa Tagoe’s buttocks and now his ten year plan,” he said.

Mr. Twum Boafo, who is also a member of the NDC’s Communication Team, lamented that for one aspiring to the highest office of the land, Nana Addo should have surrounded himself with competent and sagacious people who will offer him good counsel in speech and in his write-ups, but unfortunately, that seems not to be the case.

“How did Nana not know that the concept of valued addition started long time ago? Nana Addo, the concept of valued addition did not start when you made this statement or when you become president,” he said.

He called on the NPP Flagbearer to cease bothering President Mills so that he can have his peace of mind to better the country.

“Why the hell are you on Professor Mills’ case every single day? Is Professor Mills God? As the Bible said ‘by their deeds you shall know them’, I say ‘by their words you shall know them’. Nana wants to be president for the sake of being president. I am convinced that the NPP and their flagbearer want power for the sake of power,” he added.
