Attempt by some kidnappers to abduct a primary school pupil was foiled, weekend, following the arrest of one of them, in Ejigbo area of Lagos. The abducted pupil, who was returning from school when the kidnappers struck, was rescued by concerned residents, who went after the kidnappers.

It was learnt that the kidnappers numbering three, drove in a Lagos State painted cab, which was later discovered to have been snatched from its owner, earlier.

On sighting the pupil, the only son of a medical doctor (names withheld), who was returning from school in the company of his sister and their maid, the kidnappers reportedly moved their operational car towards them. On closer contact, one of them was said to have forcefully dragged the eight-year-old boy into the cab and thereafter, sped off.

Alarm raised by the abducted boy’s sibling, alerted some concerned neighbors and passers-by, some of whom chased the fleeing suspects in their respective cars and motorcycles.

Unfortunately for the kidnappers, on reaching Ilepo bus-stop, along Isolo-Egbe Road, they got trapped in the unending traffic.

While two of them managed to escape, the third, who later gave his name simply as Chinedu,  was apprehended right inside the cab with their victim.
