Carlo Ancelotti insists John Terry is ready for England duty despite taking a knock against Manchester City.
The Chelsea skipper was his usual combative self on Sunday as the Blues edged past City 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
A whole-hearted performance left Terry battered and bruised, casting doubt over his involvement in the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers.
He would be loath to miss those fixtures, with Fabio Capello having announced that he is to return the national armband to Terry.
Ancelotti is confident his captain will be ready to lead England into battle against Wales on Saturday, with there no lasting damage suffered against City.
He told Sky Sports: “He doesn’t have a problem and he is ready to play for England.”
Focus
Sunday’s victory over City helped take Chelsea above their rivals and into third spot in the Premier League table.
Ancelotti was delighted to have picked up another hard-fought three points, with his side still clinging to a faint title dream.
On the win, he said: “It was a very difficult game. We played a good game – we had focus, spirit and a good attitude. We worked hard on the pitch for 90 minutes and we deserved to win.
“In the first half I thought we needed to be quicker up front, in order to find the solution in the final third. But defensively we were good. We were fantastic and I was very happy with that.
“Man City lost a little bit of power because they played on Thursday night and lost energy in the second half.”
