Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is adamant a potential trophy-less season will not make him leave the Emirates in the summer.

The Gunners have failed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League and, as well as dropping out of the FA Cup, were beaten by Birmingham City in the League Cup final.

Wenger’s side are currently five points behind Manchester United in second place in the Premier League although the Frenchman insists he will always respect his contracts.

He told the Daily Mail: “You ask about my commitment? When I sign a contract I respect it. If you look at what we did this season, it deserves a lot of credit.

“Would anybody have predicted that we are where we are, in front of Chelsea and Man City and fighting for the championship? Nobody.

“We should be proud of what we did until now. So let people talk and let us do the job.”

The Gunners boss admits that the dressing room is perhaps not as loud as it was in 2004 when the team went on the win the Premier League title.

“I must say, at half-time in the dressing room against Liverpool during Arsenal’s 4-2 win in April 2004 I felt that the team was really on their knees,” he added.

“They needed some alert speech to come back and bounce back and, on the day, Thierry Henry
made a massive difference in the second half and Liverpool accepted that we were superior.

“Is it a quieter dressing room now? Maybe. But I am convinced that Arsenal has a special meaning for them and that will come out.”
