David Moyes has rejected reports that Jack Rodwell will join Manchester United in the summerand insists there is no truth in the rumours.

Rodwell has impressed for Everton this season and it has been suggested that he is set to make the switch to Old Trafford; however, Moyes has now moved to dismiss the claims.

“I don’t know where all the talk has come from of a deal being done with Manchester United because that is a load of rubbish, a complete untruth,” Moyes told reporters.

“It is definitely not the case so if anyone wants to come in and disprove me they should do so.”

Moyes has reacted angrily to the suggestions and is disappointed that the story was reported, denying there had even been any contact between the clubs.

“Stop telling people the wrong things in the media,” he added. “The media have a responsibility to tell people the facts.

“There has been no contact and we want to keep him at the club for a long time and I have no reason to suggest anything else.”

The Scot also insisted he has no plans to sell Rodwell and believes he is in a strong position to keep hold of the promising midfielder unlike the transfers of Wayne Rooney, Joleon Lescott and Steven Pienaar.

He continued: “We have let two players go in my time, in Wayne Rooney and Joleon Lescot, who I couldn’t keep hold of.

“Steven Pienaar was coming out of contract and we got an offer, otherwise we wouldn’t have let him go.

“All the other ones in the time I have been here we have felt it was the right time for them to go. We will only let people go if we think it is the right thing to do.”
