A drinks company boss has spoken out to defend Lindsay Lohan over “ridiculous” reports she broke her probation by drinking a fermented tea, insisting the liquid does not legally qualify as alcohol.
The Mean Girls star was banned from drinking booze as a condition of her probation stemming from a 2007 Dui conviction, but was accused on Thursday (17Mar11) of violating the order by drinking mugs of kombucha tea, which contains a small amount of alcohol.
But GT Dave, the owner of GT’s Kombucha where Lohan bought the drink, has defended the actress, telling Tmz.com it would be “like punishing Lindsay for taking a dose of cough syrup or a small amount of vanilla extract”.
