Lil Wayne and friends kicked off his “I Am Music II” tour at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, R.I., performing for a sold-out crowd Wednesday night (March 16).
Before the tattooed rhymer hit the stage, supporting acts Travis Barker, Mix Master Mike, and Rick Ross warmed up eager fans in the audience.
Weezy, who was released from Rikers Island late last year, referenced his time behind bars during his set, reflecting on the change his life had taken over the past few months.
“I was in a place a few months ago where I couldn’t even imagine this s–t, but now that I’m here, it’s better than I could have imagined,” the rapper revealed.
The New Orleans native gave a shout out to deceased rapper Nate Dogg, who died on March 15 from complications brought on by two prior strokes. Weezy also ran through performances of ‘A Milli,’ ‘Got Money’ and ‘I’m Going In,’ before handing the stage over to Young Money’s main lady, Nicki Minaj.
