Gale was signed for Quins by former head coach Brian McDermott.

Quins RL stand-off Luke Gale believes there is more to come from the capital’s in-form Super League team this season.

Quins have won four of their first five fixtures, with Gale’s 50 points making him the competition’s leading scorer.

Gale told BBC London 94.9: “We worked hard in pre-season and everything we’ve done has paid off.

“What’s good is the more training we do, the more games we play, it will only get better.”

Harlequins play Warrington on Sunday, another team which has lost only once this season.

Gale has missed only two of 18 conversions this season, an 88.9% success rate which has keept captain Rob Purdham off kicking duties, but the player insists that all that matters is the result.

“You don’t really think about it, you just go into games wanting the two points and whatever comes after that is a bonus.”

Gale admits he is more settled in the capital after being joined by his partner.

“You’re definitely more settled when your girlfriend moves down here and you set your base down here and that’s helped,” he said.
