Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard will be out injured for up to five weeks with a knee injury.
The 26-year-old was forced to pull out of a reserve game against Blackpool last week, and will now face surgery on Thursday, the club has confirmed on their official website.
The statement read: “The club have confirmed that goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard will undergo knee surgery on Thursday.”
The operation will keep the United stopper on the sidelines for the next five weeks.
As a result, Sir Alex Ferguson has recalled Ben Amos from a loan spell at Oldham to provide cover for Edwin van der Sar and Tomasz Kuszczak.
Lindegaard was signed in January’s transfer window from Norwegian side Aalesund for a fee of £3.5 million, and has so far made two appearances for United’s first team in the FA Cup.
