Petra Nemcova – Petra Nemcova is a 2004 Tsunami survivor. The model was on vacation with her boyfriend who was unfortunately swept out to sea while Petra held on to a palm tree for eight hours.

Now Petra is reliving the emotional stress again following the catastrophic Tsunami that hit Japan a few days ago. Petra founded the Happy Hearts charity organization soon after her 2004 experience, and dedicates much of her spare time to helping children and their families get back on their feet after natural disasters.

Speaking on U.S. show Good Morning America on Monday (3.11), Nemcova says, “To see them (images) on Friday morning was horrifying. My heart was broken. My love was going to everyone in Japan. It’s something so hard to imagine without going through. And I can imagine it because of my experience. You just feel hopelessness.”
