The 29-year-old Swedish striker’s contract with the high-flying Trotters expires in the summer, making him a desirable target for the cash-strapped Italian giants, talkSPORT report.

Elmander, who has hit the net nine times this season and chipped in with four assists, rejected a 12-month contract extension with the Lancashire side in October.

Reports in Italy claim the Bolton No.9 is ready to pursue a career outside of the UK and a move to the Serie A beckons as interest from German club Hoffenheim has reportedly failed to excite him.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle is a big fan of Elmander and will be desperate to keep hold of the striker who has begun to flourish under his tutelage.
