Schofield took over at Barrow in November but lasted five games

Championship side Barrow Raiders have parted company with head coach Garry Schofield after just five games in charge at Craven Park.

Schofield, 45, became the club’s fourth coach in two seasons when he was named as permanent replacement for Steve McCormack in November.

However, the former Huddersfield coach started with two Northern Rail Cup defeats among his first five games.

The Cumbrian side face Leigh Centurions in Saturday’s Championship opener.

    More to follow.
