Kampala — Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) coach Alex Isabirye has penned a contract extension that ties him to the club until 2012.
Isabirye, who was promoted from URA’s assistant coach to fill the void left by Moses Basena midway through last season in March, seems to have impressed his bosses. Basena left the club following indiferent results. “It is a one-year renewable contract. It’s vital we keep both coaching and playing staff that understand how this club operates and its targets,” said club secretary Henry Mayeku.
Isabirye is now looking ahead after committing his future to the club. “The fact is that staying at URA allows me to talk about titles. And we have the potential to succeed,” Isabirye said. “For me URA is a big challenge. It is a very demanding club,” Isabirye noted of a club that is still in the hunt for a local double.
URA are currently second on the Super League table with 29 points, six behind leaders KCC.
