Spartak Moscow coach Valery Karpin has expressed his delight at his side’s 1-0 victory against Ajax in Amsterdam in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
A second-half goal from Alex proved to be the difference between the two teams in the first leg of their Last 16 clash.
This has put the Russian side in an advantageous position to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.
Karpin was understandably pleased with his players’ performance and was quoted by Nusport.nl as saying after the match, ”We cannot complain if we win a game, especially as we knew how well they Ajax can play football.”
