TV presenter Ant McPartlin was punched in the face during an unprovoked attack in his local pub.

The Newcastle host, 35, was watching the football in the Barley Mow pub in Chiswick, South West London when he was approached by a young thug.

The attacker, thought to be aged around 18, had been teasing McPartlin during the night.

The thug launched at McPartlin after shouting at him: ‘Where’s your girlfriend?’ – referring to his presenting partner Declan Donnelly.

Donnelly had been at the pub earlier that evening with his girlfriend Georgie Thompson to watch the Barcelona V Arsenal game.

Eyewitness Giedrius Kudzinskas told The Sun: ‘Ant didn’t react and this bloke launched himself at him and punched him in the face.

    ‘Ant
reeled back and then a big fight broke out as his mates came to help
him. Other people jumped in and held back the other guy.

    ‘The
bloke was thrown out but when Ant left later, he was waiting for him.
There was another lot of shouting and then Ant walked off.

    ‘It was all totally unprovoked.’

Mr Kudzinskas spoke to McPartlin after the attack, describing the presenter as ‘furious’.

However, the presenter declined to call police or inform the management.

Barley Mow landlord John Wilson said: ‘I’m not aware of any violent situation.’

A spokesman for McPartlin confirmed the attack, but said he would not be taking the matter any further.
