The House of Representatives yesterday insisted that Ministerial nominees being presented to the Senate by the President for confirmation must have their portfolios clearly indicated before they are screened.
It is also mandatory, according to the lawmakers for the President to attach a certificate of clearance by security agencies against the names of nominees.
The decision by the Green Chamber was sequel to the adoption of the recommendations of a report by the Hon. Leo Ogor-headed House Committee on Governmental Affairs on a piece of legislation titled: “A bill for an Act to make provisions that will enable the National Assembly to be more effective in screening ministers of the Federal Government of the federation pursuant to the provisions of Section 147 of the 1999 Constitution and for other matters relating thereto.”
But the decision was not an easy feat as the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Usman Bayero Nafada, who presided over the consideration of the report had to divide the House into two to arrive at a distinct decision.
