Nigeria: Agu – Ajiboye is the Safest Hand in Camp

National U-23 goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu has tipped former U-17 goalkeeper, Dele Ajiboye to man the post when the team files out for the All Africa Games qualifiers, saying the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup silver medal winning goaltender is better than the rest of the keepers in camp.

More than 30 players are currently camping at the Millennium Hotel in Abuja under the tutelage of former Super Eagles defence ace Austin Eguavoen ahead of the All Africa Games qualifier against Equatorial Guinea on March 26.

Agu, who stated this in a chat in Abuja, however said he was satisfied with the level of performance put up by the goalkeepers already in camp.

According to him, though the Nigeria Football Federation is yet to secure the release of Ajiboye, he was optimistic that if finally released, the former Sunshine Stars safe hands would be picked ahead of the rest based on his current form.

“We are still monitoring the chances of Ajiboye making it for the match in Benin, and we are hoping that he will be available; even as I am impressed with the seriousness at which the goalkeepers in camp have been approaching the training.

“The keepers in the camp are doing so well and we would have to choose from them. I am so happy that they are really working hard, and picking one out of them if Ajiboye fails to come will not be too difficult”, he stated.
