Denmark international Sorensen has made 87 appearances for Stoke City |
Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has confirmed the club have opened contract talks with goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.
“We’re talking with Thomas now to try and get another contract sorted out,” Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke.
“He’s keen to get something done. We’ve spoken to his agent and the club will try and get something sorted out.”
The Denmark international, 34, joined on a free transfer from Aston Villa in the summer of 2008 but has not started a Premier League game since 24 October.
Asmir Begovic replaced Sorensen following the 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United and has started the last 19 league matches.
Sorensen, however, has started all four of Stoke’s FA Cup ties during their run to the last eight, where they will face West Ham at the Britannia Stadium on 13 March.

The Potters also have former Preston, Wigan and Everton stopper Carlo Nash in their squad and Pulis is pleased with the goalkeepers at his disposal.
“We think we’ve got three good goalkeepers,” continued the Stoke boss. “You know what goalkeepers are like, they love to stick together.
“They’ve been competitive, obviously Thomas is disappointed at not playing, but the three of them are good for one another.”
Begovic, 23, earned rave reviews for his performance in the 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion on Monday.
Former Stoke and England goalkeeper Gordon Banks has been impressed with the Bosnia international and believes he has a bright future.
The 1966 World Cup winner told BBC Radio Stoke: “If he’s playing as well as this and he keeps on doing that, in two or three years time he will be something very special.
“There’s some excellent goalkeepers around this country but if he keeps this standard up he’ll be up there with them, definitely.”
