The Blues currently hold a two-goal lead over Copenhagen in their Round of 16 tie, and the former tactician believes they have the player quality to go all the way.
Ranieri is also not surprised the Blues are struggling in the English Premier League.
“I am not surprised that Chelsea has struggled in the Premier League this season,” the ‘Tinkerman’ was quoted as saying to TuttoSport. “Football is not a science as team can do well as well as play poor.
“But I think that this Chelsea side can win the Champions League because it is a marvellous squad with fantastic players.”
The former Blues boss admits the English side can do even better as he believes strikers Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba are not at full fitness.
“Maybe Torres is not at 100 per cent and the same goes for Drogba, but I think they can do better,” he added.
The 59-year-old resigned from his Giallorossi post last month after suffering a 4-3 loss to Genoa after leading 3-0. Ranieri was in charge of Chelsea between 2000 and 2004.
