Anthony Annan in action for Schalke 04
Ghana duo Hans Adu-Sarpei and Anthony Annan helped Schalke 04 to break Bayern Munich’s 20-year unbeaten home record at the Allianz Arena to progress to the final of the German Cup on Wednesday night.
Spain legend Raul headed in the game’s eventual winner from an unmarked position on the 15th minute following flicked header from center-half Benedikt Hoewedes.
Sarpei returned into Felix Magath’s starting team for the first time since being called back a fortnight ago and impressed at the left-back role.
The 35-year-old was able to contain Bayern’s razor-blade incursions from winger Arjen Robben and destabilized the Bavarians attack.
Annan was busy on the night with his intelligent play that helped Felix Magath’s men to gain control of the midfield.
He was replaced with a minute left for play while Sarpei paved way for Lukas Schmitz on 82 minutes.
