Michael Essien claims he is reclaiming top form

Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien was back to his best in victory over Manchester United.

Essien, who showed his best form in Carlo Ancelotti’s adapted 4-4-2 formation, knew we could not afford to lose Tuesday night’s match.

“We didn’t want to lose this game, we knew we needed the three points, we spoke to each other and wanted to push on and do the job,” he told chelseafc.com, before discussing Ancelotti’s tactics.

“We’re all footballers and have to be ready for any formation, the manager came up with 4-4-2 and we played really well. He told us to keep going and improve in the second half and that’s what we did and we got the three points.”
