Ekiti ex-political appointees receive N1.2b severance allowances

GOVERNOR Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, yesterday, paid the entitlements of former political office holders in the state.

The event, which took place at the Adetiloye Hall of the Trade Fair Complex, coincided with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign rally at Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti.

Ex-PDP political office holders shunned the presidential rally to collect their entitlements.

Fayemi disbursed N1.2 billion as severance package to the former office holders.

They were led by a former Deputy Governor, Chief Abiodun Aluko.

The governor’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Yemi Adaramodu, represented the governor at the event.

Other PDP chieftains who collected their cheques included ex-state Secretary of the party, Mr. Kayode Babade, former Special Adviser on Political Matters, Mr. Akin Omole, ex-commissioners, Chief Kayode Osadare, Chief Boboye Olanipekun and Chief Toyin Ojo.

Beneficiaries from the Labour Party included the party’s former state Chairman, Chief Abiodun Falayi, ex-Chief of Staff Mr. Kayode Oso and many former lawmakers from the Adebayo and Fayose administrations.

Fayemi said his administration would better the lot of Ekiti people irrespective of their political affiliation.

The governor said no responsible government would deprive those who served the state and contributed to its development their benefit.

Aluko hailed Fayemi for paying the severance allowance.

They had written to previous administrations but got no result.

Omole called on the people to support the government.

Former Commissioner for Education Dr. Esther Fabusuyi hailed the governor for remembering ex-political office holders despite their political leanings.

Ex-Commerce Commissioner Mr. S.O. Kayode described Fayemi as a “God-ordained governor sent to improve the lots of Ekiti people.”
