A grassroots politician of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Mr Segun Oyawusi has vowed to remain steadfast in the party despite the change in government in the state.
The politician who is also a Lagos based businessman made this assertion after a party meeting in his ward in his home town, Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Area of the state.
According to him it will amount to political fornication if he should decamp from the PDP to the ruling party in the state, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) as some of his admirers have advocated.
“It is hazardous to jump into a moving train; more so I don’t believe in political fornication,” he asserted.
Mr Oyawusi disclosed that he decided to shelve his ambition to contest the April 2011 general election into the Osun State House of Assembly on the platform of the PDP because of an intra-party arrangement that he should step down for another candidate from Isokan Local Government.
He explained that both Irewole and Isokan local governments belong to the same constituency in the state legislature and that it was the turn of the latter to present a candidate in the forthcoming elections.
“PDP is the party to be reckoned with in the state anytime any day the change in the administration in the state notwithstanding and as such it is needless for me to decamp now,” the politician added.
Oyawusi lauded the immediate past Chairman of Irewole Local Government, Akogun Lanre Oyewumi whom he refered to as his mentor as well as other party leaders for their dynamism and steadfastness in the party urging them to continue to promote internal democracy so that the PDP will come tops in future elections not only in the local government, but also in the state and the entire federation.
