Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has conceded that his side are unlikely to win the Premier League title this season.

The Eastlands outfit were only able to carve out a draw in the game against Fulham on Sunday, which sees them 10 points adrift of league leaders Manchester United. And to make matters worse, the Red Devils have a game in hand over Roberto Mancini’s charges.

Now with only 10 games left in the current campaign, the former Aston Villa man admits that their title hopes are over.

“It was strange. The atmosphere wasn’t really there. Everybody seemed to be waiting for everybody else to do something,” said Barry, according to Sky Sports.

“Once we got the goal, I thought it would kick-start us and we would go and get another one.

“But then they scored and we found it difficult to break them down.

“If you are going to challenge for the title, you have to win games like this at home.”

Now the 30-year-old maintains that the club have reverted to their original aim of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League, while pushing forward in the cup competitions that sees them in with a chance of winning some silverware.

Barry added: “The cup competitions have been important to us all season, although fourth spot in the league is our main target.”
